Greetings,
The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (Mobility Authority) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will be hosting a Public Meeting to gather input on the MoPac South Environmental Study. This study focuses on identifying a mobility solution for an 8-mile stretch of MoPac (Loop 1) from Cesar Chavez Street to Slaughter Lane in Travis County, Texas. The Public Meeting will take place online and in-person. The virtual Public Meeting will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at voh.mopacsouth.com and will be available for viewing until Sunday, December 29, 2024. The in-person Public Meeting will take place Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Austin High School cafeteria. Further details, including comment submission instructions, are provided in the attached document.
As a neighborhood association likely to utilize the MoPac corridor, your feedback is invaluable to us. We are personally inviting you and your neighbors to attend the Public Meeting and provide your feedback, as your perspective is essential to the success of this project.
In addition to the Public Meeting, if your neighborhood association is interested in the Project Team attending a neighborhood meeting, to discuss the project and ask questions, we would be happy to arrange a time. If you would like to meet with our project team for more information, please contact Hillary Lacy at Hillary.Lacy@atkinsrealis.com or (512) 342-3299.
We value your input and look forward to your participation in the process of this critical environmental study. Please share this information with homeowners and residents to help us engage the greatest number of community members and stakeholders.
Sincerely,
Hillary Lacy
Sr. Public Involvement Specialist
On behalf of the MoPac South Team and Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority
The City of Austin recently sent a letter to HCO2 residents (dated Sep 20) regarding construction on a project at the Water Quality Protection Lands property. The letter states the following:
"Construction will soon begin on a project at the Water Quality Protection Lands property located at the end of Oak Arbor Trail. This project will divert water from Little Bear Creek to a former quarry during times of high flow, where it will recharge the Edwards Aquifer. Construction is expected to take ten months.
General information is included below. You are also invited to a public meeting on Zoom where we will discuss more details and answer questions:
Virtual Public Meeting: Little Bear Recharge Enhancement Project
Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 6 p.m.
Register at AustinTexas.gov/LittleBear
... You and your neighbors may notice some construction activities, including noise from digging through rock. We will also build a temporary creek crossing around the low water crossing on Arbor Trail to accommodate construction equipment. The temporary creek crossing will be removed at the end of the project.
We do not anticipate construction traffic becoming an issue. Initially, heavy equipment will be brought in on trailers, but otherwise there will be very little material hauling to or from the site.
